TRUSTED ADVISOR

I am an experienced professional with more than 25 years providing outstanding guidance and support in college counseling and admission.

I am a strong public speaker with exceptional writing and editing skills. I not only assist students in developing their voice through the college application, I have also provided editing assistance to a wide range of professionals. I am also a writer who has created content ranging from human interest stories to business blogs.

My Story

With a master's degree from the University of Iowa in Student Development in Postsecondary Education (including a minor in International Education), and my bachelor's degree from Grinnell College, I have worked on five different college and university campuses including as director of international admission and general admission counselor at Colorado College. From there, I moved to the other side of the desk, directing the college counseling office at two unique independent schools serving grades 6 to 12 (The Gregory School in Tucson then Whitfield School in St. Louis). I have counseled hundreds of students and families as they navigate the often-confusing college process, and during the past ten years, I have worked as an independent consultant with students and their families on this important journey.

In 2012, I started work that spanned five years with my alma mater, Grinnell College overseeing and growing what was the largest volunteer program at the College. I communicated with and coordinated the work of thousands of alumni volunteers passionate about assisting with admission work and outreach within their communities. Through this work, I also assisted with application review for the College admission office.

Through my love of the written word, I have continued to work for Grinnell as an independent contractor, writing human interest pieces for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Just as I loved finding the story of the high school student I was writing a letter of recommendation for during my college counseling time at independent high schools, I delight in learning about and giving voice to alumni and friends of the College.

I am a problem-solver and have always enjoyed a challenge, so thrive in unique situations that encourage out-of-the-box thinking. If you are a student trying to find your path to the college experience or if you are an individual looking for a unique way to bring your written content to life, I'm here to assist.
